Œuvre textile vivante, Peau holobionte incarne poétiquement la symbiose entre organismes, micro-organismes et corps vivants. Cette installation utilise des matériaux comme le coton et la soie, mariant techniques traditionnelles de couture et technologies modernes
telles que l’apprentissage automatique. Peau holobionte nous invite à réfléchir sur notre relation avec le Vivant. / The living textile installation, Holobiont skin, poetically embodies the symbiosis between organisms, microorganisms, and living bodies. This work uses materials like cotton and silk, blending traditional sewing techniques with modern technologies such as machine learning. Holobiont skin invites us to reflect on our relationship with the living world.
Initié par Catherine D’Amours dans le cadre des activités du laboratoire DEV et plus précisément du projet subventionné Les cycles biomimétiques à l’École de design de l’UQAM, ce projet de recherche-création a été réalisé en cocréation avec atelier b. Le premier prototype a été diffusé à l’École supérieure de mode de l’UQAM. / Initiated by Catherine D’Amours as part of the activities of the DEV laboratory, and specifically within the context of the funded project Biomimetic cycles at UQAM's École de design (School of design), this research-creation project was co-created with atelier b. The first prototype was showcased at UQAM's École supérieure de mode (School of fashion).
Chaque pièce de l’installation puise son inspiration dans le vaste territoire du Bas-Saint-Laurent où l’artiste a grandi. L'œuvre intègre donc des éléments tels que le bois flotté, la mousse, les teintes plurielles des couchers de soleil afin de réfléter l’identité environnementale de l’artiste. / Each piece of the installation draws its inspiration from the vast territory of the Bas-Saint-Laurent, where the artist grew up. The work incorporates elements such as driftwood, moss, and the diverse hues of sunsets to reflect the artist's environmental identity.
